I love the process of interpretation, but there
are days when I am also glad that Scripture can stand on its own. We can read it, and read it again, and simply
let it sink in deeply. Today is like
that. After a very early, stressful
morning, followed by a six hour nap wrapped up in my Rainbow Brite blanket from
1983 (I don't really know if it's even called a nap at that point, but I needed
a word for it... I also don't know if you
need details about my blanket, but I desperately needed a picture to add to
this post on my FB page, and I have long since lost the ability to think
clearly or get super creative), followed by coffee at 3:30 in the afternoon, this
is just what I needed... to feel safe:
Psalm 121,
"I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot
slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed,
he who watches over Israel will neither slumber
nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your
shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by
day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and
going both now and forevermore" (NIV).
